Often ‘resume received’ emails are automatically sent by an applicant tracking system. You can usually tell if this is the case if the email address is something like [email protected] or if the email states that it is autogenerated. In these cases, there is no need to respond to a ‘resume received’ email.
If however, you receive a personal email from a hiring manager, it can be nice to reply with a short polite response.
For example, you can send a brief acknowledgement email to the hiring manager, in which you thank them for letting you know and state your availability to answer any questions they may have regarding your resume or application, and include your contact details so that the hiring manager can quickly find them.
Here is an example of how to respond to a personal ‘resume received’ email:
Dear [Hiring Manager’s name as per their email],
Thank you for confirming that you successfully received my resume and cover letter.
I hope that I have the opportunity to discuss my application in more detail during an interview.
In the meantime, if you have any questions or require further information, I can be reached at 0123 456 789 or [email protected].
Kind regards,
[Your first and surname]
