How many years of experience should be on a CV?

We recommend that you should only include 10 to 15 years of experience on your CV (also commonly called a resume). Any jobs you did over 15 years ago probably are not the best representations of your current skillset and should be left off your CV.

It is essential to always look at the job advertisement before deciding how many years of experience to include on your CV. If the job listing states that you need 20 years of relevant work experience, then include 20+ years’ worth of work history in your professional experience section.

Remember to only include the experience relevant to the job you want. A CV that lists five years of highly relevant experience is more likely to land you a job than one with 15 years of irrelevant experience.
