A cover letter should be 1 page or less.

It must grab the hiring manager’s attention and make you seem like a nice, organised person that they need to get in to interview.

If it looks like it might be long or difficult to read; hiring managers will avoid reading it. People will look at a 2-page cover letter and not even bother to start, so it is in your best interest to keep it brief.

We recommend:

  • Between 250–400 words
  • Between ½ and one page
  • 3 to 4 paragraphs long
  • A good flow to ensure you don’t ramble
